Counseling

My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that individuals have their own capacity to heal, and that my role is to offer partnership and support in that healing process. I practice through a Gestalt orientation, meaning I recognize the inherent dignity and strength of each client, and help guide clients to present moment awareness to work through and resolve their distress.

I integrate a variety of therapeutic modalities to address the unique needs of each client. I use cognitive behavioral therapies (including CBT, DBT, and ACT) to support repatterning thoughts and shifts in behaviors, and existential therapy to help clarify what gives us meaning in this life. With 20 years of experience in art museum education, including at the National Museum of Asian Art at the Smithsonian Institution, I also use expressive arts therapy to support client exploration and insight.

Currently I work with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, or challenging life transitions. I serve a range of individuals and couples, including biracial and multiracial individuals, people making life transitions in middle age, individuals who are creatively stuck, and older adults.
